The deadline for submitting works ends on May 29, 2022

The Quevedo Institute of the Arts of Humor of the General Foundation of the University of Alcalá announces the XXIX International Exhibition of the Arts of Humor, around the theme «CHILDREN WITHOUT SMILE. War, hunger, exploitation-child labor: childhood destroyed».  For those authors who so wish, the organization will make different information on the subject available to them through the iqh.es website.

1.- Participation is open to all people over 18 years of age who wish to participate in the contest.

2.- To participate in the Exhibition, a maximum of 5 works on the theme «CHILDREN WITHOUT A SMILE. War, hunger, exploitation-child labor: childhood destroyed» . It could be a vignette, a strip or a caricature. The organization reserves the right to invite those authors it deems appropriate.   

3.- The works must be signed. They may be made in any technique and support, with maximum dimensions of A3 (297×420 mm.), preferably vertical, since the catalog will follow these proportions.

4.- The works must be sent before May 29. Along with the work, the sheet that accompanies these bases will be sent, duly completed.

  • In those made in digital technique, it must be sent in JPG or TIFF format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. to miah@iqh.es , and it is recommended to send a printed and signed copy, with the copy number (Ex: Copy 1 of X ).

It is essential to adhere to the dates indicated for the proper planning of the catalog and the design of the exhibition.

5.- The works sent by postal mail must be sent suitably packed. It is recommended to protect them with two flat cardboards, the organization not being responsible for possible damage caused in transport. The shipping costs will be borne by the people who participate in this call, the organization not assuming any expense (for example customs expenses) nor any responsibility in case of deterioration or loss of the work.

6.- A commission will make a selection among the received works that will be exhibited at the XXIX International Exhibition of the Arts of Humor of the University of Alcalá that will be held between September and November 2022 in Alcalá de Henares.

7.- The works presented will become part of the holdings of the Quevedo Institute of the Arts of Humor of the General Foundation of the University of Alcalá, unless expressly indicated otherwise, for which it will be necessary to write on the back of the work the word ‘return’.

8.- Sending the work implies that the author or the author authorizes the General Foundation of the University of Alcalá its reproduction and dissemination, provided that their name appears and the objective is the dissemination of the Exhibition and other activities of the FGUA in the field of humor, without generating an obligation of any kind before the author or the author.

9.- The organization will communicate electronically the receipt of the works and their selection, publishing this last list on its website iqh.es.

10.- The authors whose work has been selected will receive a copy of the publication that will be published on the occasion of the Exhibition.

11.- The organization reserves the right not to exhibit those works that it considers to violate individual or collective rights.

12.- The participants will be responsible for the originality of the works before any claim, holding the organization harmless against any infringement of rights or intellectual property of the same.

13.- Participation in the Exhibition supposes the acceptance of these bases and the waiver of any legal claim, likewise falling the responsibility of the works on their authors.
