The ‘Cigarette Butt Free Ayvalık’ cartoon competition is finalised with public voting, held in Ayvalık-Altınova Sandisland Beach on 31st August. The international cartoon competition organized by Ayvalık Municipality, TEMA Foundation and Friends of Nature Cartoonists’ Group have received 235 cartoons drawn by 113 artists from 25 countries and 44 of them were qualified for the final public voting.

Ayvalık mayor Mesut Ergin and Tema representative of Ayvalık, Haluk Aysu gave speech about the difficulty of fighting with wastes, plastic and cigarette butts pollution in and around the town. The coordinator of the competition, Sönmez Yanardağ said the final voting was quite competetive because of the number of participation but the peoples’ jury was so seriously keen to chose their bests.
