Japan’s longest-serving Prime Minister Shinzo Abe quits

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Japan’s longest-serving premier, said on Friday he was resigning because of poor health, Abe announced his pending resignation as Prime Minister, citing a resurgence of his ulcerative colitis. He has indicated that he will remain in office until the LDP elects his successor.
