It is with great sadness and sorrow that we inform you of the death of singer and composer Elza Soares, aged 91, at 15 hours and 45 minutes at her home, in Rio de Janeiro, due to natural causes. Icon of Brazilian music, considered one of the greatest artists in the world, the singer elected as the Voz do Milênio had an apotheotic, intense life, that moved the world with her voice, her strength and her determination. The beloved and eternal Elza has rested, but will forever be in the history of music and in our hearts and the thousands of fans around the world.

Elza Soares and Garrincha have been married for 16 years.
Both passed away on the same date. Garrincha on January 20, 1983 and Elza Soares on January 20, 2022. It is with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of our dear Elza Soares
We lost not only one of the best singers and most powerful voices in Brazil, but also a great woman, who has always defended democracy and good causes.
Elza was a fighter for art and for life against hunger, misery, racism and machismo.
