CLKA organizes Art Exhibition of Lall’s Paintings

Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi (CLKA) organized an Online Exhibition Paintings created during the Day Residency at CLKA Open Hand Art Studios by Prabhinder Lall, a senior artist of Chandigarh. The exhibition was put on display on 11th September, 2020. A total of thirty paintings have been displayed in this online exhibition.
‘I have learnt that Corona Virus lockdown has given us chance to introspect various aspects of our working styles and factors of life. I have also learnt how to improve and complete the unfinished work.’ said Prabhinder Lall in a conversation in the hard times of Covid- 19 Pandemic.
Prabhinder Lall is one of the prominent Contemporary Artists from Chandigarh, who has contributed a lot in the field of painting, drawing, graphic and photography for about last four and a half decades. He has been creating art works giving due impetus to Architecture in its varied shapes and modules.
His father Late S. R S Lall, an eminent architect of Chandigarh, wanted him to become an architect, keeping the tradition of the family going on. Due to som reason or the other he got admission in applied art at Govt. College of art, Chabdigarh. From the very beginning of his student life at College, he had been an ardent experimenter in the context of technique and innovative ideas. Due to these virtues he, inspite of being a scholar of Applied Art, became popular as a creative art student at College. He is now well known for his contribution in the field of Environmental Art and has evolved an inimitable stamp that stands for a synergy between art and environment.
Prabhinder’s art works are vibrant and pulsating, always pushing creative boundaries and setting design standards. In his words, ‘I am quite natural in my expressions.’ He uses his intuitive capabilities to perceive the images, colours and texture. His peculiar red, green, yellow, ochre, jet black, grey and even golden paint leave their impact on the viewer instantly. Keeping his creativity alive and strong Prabhinder Lall always practiced innovative techniques and ideas. His journey is full of aesthetical experiences done through creative and afresh pursuits in the art field.
To keep his work updated, he keeps on participating in art exhibitions and workshops at state, national and international levels. His art has been displayed in many countries like Sweden, South Korea, Nepal, Bhutan, Turkey, Vietnam and at many places in India like Mumbai, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jammu, Kud (Patni Top in J&K), Kochi, Thirussur, Kolkatta,
He has also been honoured with awards and fellowship by various organizations. He has been awawded in All India Exhibition of Original Drawings, 1980 to 83; by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi in 1981, by All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society (AIFACS), New Delhi in 1986 and 1991, in All India Exhibition by HP State Museum, Shimla, 1992- 1996, by Punjab LKA, Chandigarh in 1993, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi & AIFACS Show in 2002- 03, Northern Region Camlin Art Exhibition (Professional Category) in 2004, Senior Fellowship in the Field of Painting (Visual Arts) by Ministry of Culture, GoI, 2012- 2013, Amrita Sher- gil Samman by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh during 2019 and Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi Samman during 2018.
Lately, he has displayed his organizational abilities by organizing International Art Workshops and Exhibitions at various places. He has been organizing these activities, regularly, since 2012, under the banner of his organization ‘ArtFort India’.

Prabhinder Lall is a Chandigarh based artist who back belongs to a small village in the rich belt of Punjab, Ratainda, district Nawanshahr, Punjab, India. Lall was born on 06th July 1955 to a skilled family of architects and artists, even most of his relatives are architects. During school days Lall used to make unusual drawings, architectural perspective, sketches, later all these notice by some well- known architect of Chandigarh and he guided Lall to take admission in either art or architecture college. And from there his journey of visual art started. Lall took admission in Government College of Art, Chandigarh, India in 1974- 1979 under five year applied art diploma.
Today, Prabhinder Lall is one of the prominent contemporary artist from Chandigarh. From last five decades, Lall artistic journey is full of aesthetical experiences, showing land forms giving due impetus to architecture in its varied shapes and models, even a lot in the field of Urbans cape, drawings, graphic and photography. Numerous progress can be seen in his work from early days to the present times. His work involves various experiments in his drawings with inks, crayons, mono-prints, collage, oils, acrylics, colored chalks, pencil, spray with spray gun and even involving prints as well in it. In some of his work, Lall uses only embossing the surface and creating images without the application of the colors. Moreover, architectural structures with geometrical configurations and rich color schemes can be seen in his latest art works. This all happen because of his subtle observations and depiction of ideas, that give him strong possibilities of creating landscapes and urban cityscapes. Most important his art work focus on environmental related issues such as deserted lands for the lack of greenery and overcrowding of populated areas filled with man- made structures creating chaos in the natural balance in the environment and spatial look. These works emphasize on his approach towards for a synergy between art and environment. Lall always practice innovative techniques and idea to keep his creativity alive and strong. He never feels tired from his journey from one approach to another as Lall realized that if art is to be executed it must be full of innovative ideas and techniques.
After finishing college, Lall worked extensively in the field of art and applied art. As a freelance graphic artist, he has worked with Inter Alia, Alfred Allan Advertising, Lintas India, Marketing Mix Group India Ltd, even as senior visualizer at Elevation Advertising Private Ltd and also as Assistant Professor at Lovely Professional University, Punjab, India, 2012- 2013 in the department of Fine Arts, applied art and animation.
Lall has participated in state, regional, national and international events of art, such as: National Exhibitions of Art by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; All India Art Exhibitions by All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society, New Delhi and Indian Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar; All India Art Exhibitions of Drawings, Prints at College of Art, Chandigarh; Exhibitions of Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi and Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi and others. His participation can be seen in many Group Shows also. Moreover, he attends prestigious art camps & workshops at national and international levels in various countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Turkey and art workshops in India like one with American artist Carol Summers at Chandigarh; at IRMT, Naggar (Kullu) by North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala; by J&K Academy of Art Culture & Languages, Jammu (J&K). All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society’s All India Senior Artists’ Camp, New Delhi; National Painters’ Camp at Kochi etc.
Number of his art works find their space in different well known museums and in public or private art collection, like: Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Museum & Art Gallery, Chandigarh Museum, Punjabi University, Patiala; North Zone Culture Centre, Patiala; Himachal State Museum, Shimla and private collections in India, Nepal, Vietnam and Turkey, etc. He has been awarded with the Senior Fellowship, Ministry of Culture, Government of India for 2012- 13 in the field of Painting (Visual Art) for a period of two years with effect from August, 2014. He has been awarded this fellowship for his project on the subject ‘Environmental Art & Architecture related to Rural & Urbanism in Landscape’. Earlier, he has been awarded in All India Exhibition of Drawings at Chandigarh; All India Exhibition, Shimla; and by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy, Chandigarh, All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society, New Delhi (twice); Indian Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar; Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh and 4th Northern Region Camlin Award. And in private art collection his works are at Department of Urban &Town planning Department, Gazipasa, Turkey, 2019 and Nepal Art Council, Kathmandu Nepal, 2017, LA. s Creative Art Gallery, Hochiminh City, Vietnam. 2018.
Lall always try to keep himself updated and active in art field by participating in different art exhibitions and workshops and competitions at state, national and international levels. He has participated in many art exhibitions like National Exhibition of Art by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, All India Art Exhibitions by All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society, Indian Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar, All India Art Exhibitions of Drawings, ‘Print and Graphics at College of Art, Chandigarh. In the field of visual art, Lall receive number of awards different organizations on different events, for example: All India Exhibition of Original Drawings, 1980- 1983, All India Fine Arts & Craft Society (AIFACS), 1986, 1991, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, 1993, Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA), Amritsar, 1990, 1996, Himachal State Museum, Shimla, 1992, 1996, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh & AIFACS, 2002, 2003 last but not the least also been awarded by Senior Fellowship by Ministry of Culture, Government of India, New Delhi, 2012-2014.
