Cartoonist Surendra gets Cartoonist Shekhar Memorial Award

The Hindu cartoonist Surendra has been awarded the Cartoonist Shekhar Memorial Award for the year 2022. On behalf of Shekhar’s family members, his son Nandu honored Surendra and presented the award. The Hindu cartoonist Surendra said that Shekhar will definitely be remembered when he says political cartoon… His cartoons have that power. He received the Cartoonist Shekhar Memorial Award for the year 2022. Surendra was conferred with the award at a function held at Somajiguda Press Club. Along with the award, a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of ten thousand rupees were presented. On behalf of Shekhar’s family members, his son Nandu honored Surendra and presented the award.

Later, Surendra said.. He praised Shekhar for playing a multi-faceted role not only as a cartoonist but also as an organizer, activist and writer. Surendra commented that this award given in the name of Shekhar is much better than the award given to him by the governments. He reminded that the journey was good with Shekhar.. He was always seen with a smile. Sakshi cartoonist Shankar said that he learned how to draw cartoons from Shekhar. Shankar praised that he used to take all his team along and do activities actively. Among the cartoonists in Telugu, Shekhar has published the most books of cartoons.

Senior cartoonist Narsim said that Shekhar was very eager to learn new things. He said that he made a lot of efforts to learn Photoshop when it was new. Another cartoonist Mrityunjaya said that Shekhar created a new trend with the cartoon book Bank Babu. Mrityunjaya praised that Shekhar taught his wife Chandrakala how to read and use computers and wrote a book with her. Along with them, senior cartoonists Naru, Rakesh, Avinash, JV and others participated in this program.
