Javier cubero torres (Javier). Cartoonist and redactor of the humorous supplement Melaíto and member of the Union of Journalists of Cuba. (UPEC).

In more than three decades of work, the artist has received recognition from various Cuban publications, including the humorous supplement Melaíto, and the Bohemia and Palante magazines. He has also been recognized by the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists. (UNEAC).

Javier has four personal exhibitions to his credit and has participated in more than thirty group shows in countries such as Turkey, Colombia, Japan, Macedonia and Cuba.

His work has been awarded in different international salons: Second prize in the cartoon category at the 21st International Biennial of Graphic Humor in San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba 2019). Special Jury Prize at the Kartal Cartoon Contest of Turkey 2020. Second Prize in the General Humor Category at the 52 Santa Clara 2020 International Graphic Humor Salon (Cuba). In 2021 he was awarded the Journalistic Award for the Work of the Year 2020. In addition, he has received several collateral awards, mentions and recognitions in different competitions around the world.

Co-author of titles such as “A mal tiempo buena cara”, “1/4 de humor” and “Afilando la punta”, belonging to the humorous supplement Melaíto. His name appears in the anthology “Contemporary Cuban Caricature”.

He currently contributes to the magazines Bohemia, Palante, Dos bufones, Supapo, Baskent Postasi and Cartoon Movement. He has also collaborated with the magazines Chocarreros, Diario Monitor, Humoris Causa and UNOMÁSUNO.
