Panduranga Rao awarded KCA Life Time Achievement Award
B V Panduranga Rao, Senior Cartoonist, Bangalore was presented with the Krishnakant Life time Achievement award of the year 2021 by the Karnataka Cartoonists Association in a award ceremony held at the Indian Institute of Cartoonists Gallery on 28.5.2022. The Award comprises a cash award of Rs 5000/- and the Citation. Panduranga Rao thanked the KCA President and the Committee members for selecting him for this prestigious award.
B V Panduranga Rao born 1944, home town Sidlaghatta , former Senior Manager, Bhilai Steel Plant is a Cartonist by hobby. Has created over 7000 Cartoons for English , Kannada and hindi publications. He has won Prizes over 30 times at National level and his Cartoons are being recognised with Cash Awards/ Exhibitions/ printing in catalogues etc at International Cartoon Contests over 120 times from 33 countries. He has conducted over 50 one Man shows and organised Cartoon Work shops for over 3000 participants
He has entered his name in 14 limca Book of Record, 11 India Book of Records 10 world records and other records for his various creations. He was a noted Cricketer and state panel cricket umpire. Also has won prizes in shuttle Badminton.
Panduranga Rao , while speaking to the audience narrated his experience , of how he got in to Cartooning field besides working in tough environmental conditions of Bhilai Steel Plant and how his sustained efforts brought him the success. He was ever grateful to Bhilai Steel Plant for encouragement to keep continue his cartooning and to reach new heights. Also he was thankful to Shri V G Narendra, Shri Triambak Sharma and others who always motivated him and helped him to keep continue till date. He remembered his late wife who supported him to keep this passion during his long association with her. He said she too deserves to be part of this award..
Shri V G Narendra, Shri VRC Shekhar, Shri GS Naganath Shri Nanjunda Swamy spoke on the occasion and congratulated him.
At the outset , Panduranga Rao interacted with the audience present , and thanked them before dispersing for snacks and Tea
