
Cartoonist Milenko Kosanović passed away
The excellent cartoonist and illustrator Milenko Kosanović (1948), who has received numerous awards and recognition, including Honorary Citizen of Subotica, passed away last night after a brief illness. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 13:30 at the cemetery in Bajmok, Rata. The memorial time will be announced later.
Cartoonist Milenko Kosanović dies
Milenko Kosanović was born in Bajmok where he spent his whole life. He became a member of the Serbian Applied Arts and Designers Association with the status of “Outstanding Artist” Winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award. As a professional cartoonist-illustrator, he collaborated in many newspapers and magazines in the former Yugoslavia, and in some foreign editions such as Canadian “Artizans”, British “Cartonshtock” and French “EGE”. Presented in the Encyclopedia of “Two Centuries of Journalism in Serbia”, “Who’s Who in Humor, Satire and Caricature”, “The Hedgehog Almanac” … He also illustrated several books.
Awarded by Večernje novosti, “Golden Pierre” newspaper caricature was the winner of the highest domestic award and was rewarded with his work in Turkey and abroad. He is also the recipient of the Subotica Honorary Citizen award presented to him in 2014.
He retired from the editorial office of the magazine “Suboticke novine” with which he had worked until the last day.
On Friday, we laughed and dreamed of watching his cartoon for the tenth time every week in the city, and this morning came the sad news of his death. Kosanović left an indelible mark on the city’s journalism and social life. With his advice, kind words, benevolent criticism, and inevitable recognizable smile, he has always helped his young colleagues stay and survive on the obscure journalistic path.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 13:30 at the cemetery in Rata Bajmok and the memorial time will be announced later.
