JOEN a.k.a. Yunus Erlangga
Joen is Cartoonist & Visual Artist based in Kota Malang, Indonesia. His works including cartoon caricature, comic art and animation.
He started drawing cartoon in 1992 when he joined Indonesian Cartoonist Association PAKARTI) and take part in several group exhibition in Indonesia. He works as after-hour cartoonist since then.
Since 2013 his drawing has been published globally in various media and included in prestigious International cartoon exhibition. Such as Cartoon Movement, Cartooning For Peace, United Sketches, Brazilcartoon, Toonpool, Toonsmag, Oui France – France, Baskent Postasi – Turkiye, Kuresel TV – Turkiye, Cairocature – Egypt, Good Humor Party – Poland etc.
He appointed as official cartoonist for World Toilet Day (2015) and World Water Day (2016), a wprldwide clean water and sanitation campaign founded by UN-Water/UNICEF.
He has presented Solo Cartoon Exhibition in Jogjakarta and published his cartoon book compilation entitled “Kartun Senyap” (Silence Cartoon). A compilation of contemplative and no caption cartoon. (2015).
Dr. Lim Cheong-San, founder of SICACO South Korea, noted that Joen’s works are a kind of “cheerful cartoon drawing. It’s because Joen doesn’t like insulting or violence cartoon. He avoid drawing cartoon with explicit content like blood or violence.
Joen received Cartoon Award from China (2012), Mexico (2022), Romania (2011) and Germany (2011). Also Finalist in many international cartoon competition.
